Anxiety

Anxiety is incredibly hard. The pit in your stomach, the tension in your body – the physical sensations are one thing, but the way it occupies your mind is another. You get stuck on a topic, ruminate endlessly, and end up fixed on the worst-case scenario. Living in the worst-case scenario is a scary place to be, and it can be hard to escape it. That being said, your anxiety has also helped you become a competent and reliable person – people tend to depend on you a lot. While part of you likes to do things your own way, you also sometimes resent being depended on so much. You want to be taken care of, too.

I know you are anxious because you care deeply. You want things to be “right,” and that takes work. You spend a lot of energy wanting to do a good job, but that sometimes leads to overworking or people-pleasing behaviors. Despite all of your hard work, it somehow never feels like enough, and you’re burnt out.

In therapy, you will have an opportunity to slow down and process / reflect on the happenings of your everyday life. We will come to understand the root cause of your anxiety by exploring your early life experiences & relationships. Using evidence-based practices including mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy, I will help you quiet the inner dialogue so you may achieve a greater sense of presence, trust, and self-confidence in your everyday life.
