Postpartum Support

You have just been through the deepest transformation imaginable. Having a baby shakes you from your physical body to your very identity. To add fuel to the fire, you are operating under cultural / societal expectations about what this process “should” look like. It’s not easy to open up to people about this topic for fear of judgment. So, you’re left feeling totally shaken and unsure, but without the time, energy, or support to process the experience. You might be finding yourself overly consumed with tasks, distressed by unwelcome thoughts, or saddened about what has been lost.

I often like to use the imagery of a shattered vase when it comes to new parenthood – sometimes it feels like your identity has been broken apart, and you are left trying to pick up the pieces. In therapy, we will gather the pieces bit by bit and put the vase back together again – maybe with some new pieces, but not without the old. You are not lost; you are just going through a huge change, and I am here to support you through to the other side.

I have specialized training and years of experience supporting parents through the postpartum phase. I will make sure to hold a nonjudgmental space for you to safely express your honest experience of new parenthood. We will work together to intentionally explore & define your values, strengths, and personal goals in order to cultivate hope and dig roots within yourself amidst the difficulty of this change.
